Still Life began by 3D scanning a vase of freshly picked flowers, capturing the arrangement as it wilted and gently fell over time. A composition was selected and then machined from a single block of marble.
The work brings together opposites: a fleeting moment made permanent, a fragile form translated into solid stone. It exists as a still life, but also as a reflection on change, recognising that beauty is not fixed to a single moment, but exists across an entire life cycle.
To recreate the level of detail present in nature, the work was enlarged approximately ten times, becoming something to be encountered physically, stood beside, and looked up to.
