Gravity Chandelier Makes its Debut in Milan

A new piece designed for Moooi is on display at this year’s Salone del Mobile, featured as part of the A Life Extraordinary Experience at the brand’s Milan showroom.

The lighting system is a new interpretation of the traditional chandelier, using flexible, reconfigurable wires instead of rigid forms or materials. It can be installed in a number of different ways - from a simple circle of lights, to a more complex, spiralling installation. Gravity defines the final form of the chandelier, with the filaments of the light resembling sweeping lines of ink.

“Gravity Chandelier takes something that’s familiar and puts it together in a different way, and with new ingredients,” says Paul Cocksedge. “It’s a reworking of something historical.”

A Life Extraordinary is on display from 7 to 11 June, at Moooi's showroom on Via S. Gregorio, 29, Milan.
