Our proposal for a new gateway and community space in London's Old Street – created in partnership with Ben Adams Architects – has been longlisted alongside submissions from 39 other design teams including Zaha Hadid Architects and Es Devlin.
Our design develops Old Street's existing arches, extending them into a sculptural gesture that frames a new plant-filled public space offering seating, lighting, wi-fi and charging points. The arches connect the area's past and present identity, and mark the symbolic centre of London's Tech City.
“The arches are compelling structures that impact both the macro and micro environment of the Old Street Gateway,” says Paul Cocksedge. “Visible from all directions, they act as beacons for this significant area of the city.”
All designs can be viewed online here, and are open to public feedback before a shortlist of proposals is selected in March.
